ROLE of the POSITION
The Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry is a CODA-accredited 24-month postdoctoral education program that awards a Certificate of Specialization in Pediatric Dentistry. The Program Director is responsible for overall broad oversight of the program including the curriculum and its development, implementation, clinical operations, monitoring, assessment, reporting and evaluation as it relates to Pediatric Dentistry and in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Program Director is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all UNLV School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures and protocols, eHR (AxiUm) records audits, and coordinating similar compliance measures associated with affiliate, external rotation locations such as the University Medicine Center hospitals and clinics, VA, or other affiliate entities. The Program Director is responsible for the admissions processes, review and selection following all NSHE, UNLV, School of Dental Medicine measures, in coordination with the Assistant/Associate Dean for Advanced Education. The Program Director ensures residents (advanced education students) comply with all previously mentioned protocols, quality assurance, and professional standards set forth within NSHE, UNLV, and the School of Dental Medicine. The position provides the administrative association and link between the predoctoral and advanced education program. The Program Director serves as a role model and contributes to a professional work environment, fostering the values of an inclusive, and diverse resident, staff, and faculty population.
PROFILE of the SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE
UNLV School of Dental Medicine, the only accredited dental school in Nevada, opened its doors during fall 2002 offering a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree to an initial cohort of 75 students. Today, the school receives more than 1,800 applications for an available 82 seats within its pre-doctoral program; it also offers eight academic degree and advanced education certificate programs; conducts biomedical research within 4,000 square feet of laboratory space; hosts continuing education classes to industry professionals; leads multiple community outreach programs; and has more than 70,000 patient visits per year.
The School of Dental Medicine’s education programs are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and have maintained that status since 2002.
This position requires a D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Five (5) years of management experience, ten (10) years of related and supervisory experience.
Certificate of completion of a CODA-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry. Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry, ACLS and must be eligible for licensure in Nevada. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
