Montefiore Einstein is the umbrella organization for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System. In addition to its medical and doctoral program, Einstein offers master's degrees in clinical research methods and bioethics. Einstein receives for than $215 million in NIH funding each year and support NIH-designated research centers in cancer, aging, AIDS, intellectual and developmental disorders, clinical and translational research and type II diabetes. Montefiore provides care to approximately three million people in communities across the Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and Hudson Valley. Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks an experienced leader in student affairs and student life to serve as the Associate Dean for Students (ADS) to provide strategic leadership, administration and oversight for all student functions within the medical school. This role is responsible for fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes academic success, professional development, and personal well-being for medical students. Collaboration across academic affairs, admissions, registrar, financial aid, wellness, and community engagement and outreach offices to create a supportive, and high-performing learning environment is an important part of the role. The ADS serves as a key member of the medical education leadership team and ensures compliance with student -related accreditation standards.
Responsibilities Student Support
Act as primary entry point of support for students, addressing academic, personal, professional, and financial issues
Counsel students on career planning
Oversee the residency application process: writing or supervising MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation), coordinating with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and advising on match strategies
Monitor students’ well-being and direct or refer to wellness, counseling, and health services as appropriate
Ensure accommodations for students with disabilities; liaise with accessibility offices
Guide students through academic progress, remediation, professionalism concerns, and promotions/dismissals processes
Student Life & Engagement
Oversee student governance, and student organizations
With oversight from the SADME, lead planning and execution of key student events: Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Match Day, Commencement, etc
Support student extracurricular enrichment (e.g., research, community service)
Accreditation & Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards (e.g., LCME, MSCHE) and participate in accreditation reviews and self-studies
Maintain and update the Student Handbook and other policy documents.
Provide institutional representation in national medical education and student affairs organizations (e.g., AAMC Group on Student Affairs), as relevant
Assessment & Continuous Improvement
Collect, analyze, and use student data (academic performance, wellness, satisfaction) to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
Lead or support relevant aspects of MD program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives
Mentor and develop assistant deans, directors, and student affairs staff

Key Relationships
Role reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education

Qualifications
Education:
MD or DO degree
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, medical education, graduate medical education, or academic administration at a high-performing school of medicine or relevant academic institution.
-Experience in training and mentoring the next generation of physicians and physicians/scientists is highly desired.
-Must possess relevant experience in leading or contributing to an LCME and/or MSCHE accreditation process.
Skills/Competencies:
Familiarity with medical student assessment, promotion processes, and residency applications
Experience contributing to an LCME and/or MSCHE accreditation process
Understanding of compliance issues (FERPA, ADA, student records), data-driven
Collaborative relationship-building skills, with an ability to successfully partner and build consensus with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Excellent communication and listening skills; able to unite, inspire and build consensus amongst a diverse group of students, faculty and staff
National presence, such as participation in the AAMC
Compensation Range: The base salary range for this position is $300-350,000. In addition, this executive will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus, retirement plan and additional benefits. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
