Job Purpose and Summary
This position provides support to Engineering staff on a seasonal basis. Work involves providing assistance to construction engineers in the location, design or inspection of various engineering projects. Work is subject to frequent direction and review.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Participates and assists with various design and construction engineering projects, both in the office and in the field.
Reviews roadway, bridge, and traffic design and construction criteria.
Reads and interprets inspection/testing reports, engineering drawings/specifications and various maps, including topographic maps.
Assists construction inspection, field measurement, and/or quantification of various project related items required for the design and/or construction of the project.
Attends meeting, workshops, and professional development trainings on various aspects of organizational business policies and procedures.
Performs departmental documentation and administrative tasks as needed.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with professional associates, supervisors, and engineering firms.
Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
Must be currently enrolled into their sophomore, junior or senior year of a post-secondary educational program and be majoring in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering for the upcoming fall semester.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Position demands include frequent speaking, writing, and reading reports. Position requires frequent work at a computer utilizing business programs and PTC specific operating systems. Position may occasional require working long hours and/or working outside of normal work hours. Incumbents must have the physical capability of appropriately standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying heavy tools/equipment when necessary.
Office environment with low levels of noise, adequate lighting, and comfortable temperature. Field environment may include exposure to adverse and undesirable conditions. Physical environment is generally safe, but safety equipment or precautions must be followed in field conditions.
