The University of Scranton has an exciting opportunity to join our team of accomplished, passionate educators and clinicians in the Department of Nursing. This is a tenure-track in-person, on site 9-month, assistant professor position beginning in August 2026. Regular on-campus presence is required. There are opportunities to teach in the undergraduate, graduate, and DNP programs; teaching, scholarship, and service are required. The Department of Nursing is strongly committed to excellence; the Department’s graduates are recognized for being ready to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, holistic, person-centered care at all levels and across many settings.
The Department of Nursing offers a welcoming work atmosphere and seeks candidates with a Master’s degree in Nursing and an earned doctoral-level research degree (PhD or EdD), or current enrollment in a PhD or EdD program. Expertise in women’s health nursing is required; certification as an advanced practice nurse in women’s health is preferred. Relevant clinical experience in women’s health is required along with Pennsylvania nursing licensure, or eligibility for Pennsylvania nursing licensure. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of, or potential for excellence in classroom and clinical teaching, scholarly work, and engagement in professional service.
The Department of Nursing, which resides in the Leahy College of Health Sciences at The University of Scranton, offers a bachelor’s degree program; a master’s degree program with two tracks; a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program, also with two tracks; and post-graduate certificate programs. Nursing programs at The University of Scranton are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The Department is also home to the Iota Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing. The Leahy College of Health Sciences also offers opportunities for collaboration with local and regional clinical partners.
