 The Department of Biological &#38; Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University is seeking to hire a non-tenure track Teaching Professor who will serve as Director of the Medical Laboratory Science programming at Rowan University, with an appointment to begin July 1, 2026.&#xa0;&#xa0; 
 The Department of Biological &#38; Biomedical Sciences is specifically interested in candidates with experience teaching in and/or overseeing Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) programs. Applicants must hold ASCP Certification and preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with NAACLS Accreditation and those with both clinical and academic experience.&#xa0;The successful candidate should be passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 
 This position will lead programmatic NAACLS accreditation application, teach select courses, advise and recruit MLS students, and establish an undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science program as well as community college partnerships, establishing pipelines into the undergraduate and graduate MLS programs. The university currently offers an undergraduate certificate, graduate certificate, and Master&#8217;s MLS programs and has arrangements for Clinical rotations at Virtua Health, Voorhees Campus. The candidate will partner with the departmental leadership to ensure appropriate staffing of program courses. Teaching responsibilities will align with the successful candidate&#8217;s areas of expertise. Upon successful accreditation and establishment of the undergraduate program, teaching and administrative responsibilities will increase accordingly. Successful candidates are also expected to participate in professional development to stay current in the field.&#xa0; 
 The MLS programs are interdisciplinary, primarily through collaborations between the Glassboro Main Campus departments of Biological &#38; Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry &#38; Biochemistry, as well as select courses offered through the Department of Biomedical Sciences on our Stratford campus. The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Department of Biological &#38; Biomedical Sciences and will collaborate across departments.&#xa0; The department is home to a variety of Biological subdisciplines including but not limited to Ecology, Bioinformatics, and Molecular &#38; Cellular Biology. The candidate will also have access to an already established network of Clinical Lab industry experts and adjuncts who currently serve the program. 
 Candidates are expected to hold a terminal degree (or its professional equivalent). This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track appointment. Successful candidates will complete 30 workload credits per year, distributed across the academic year and summer term; the balance of workload credits, including teaching and program-related service, will be determined in consultation with the Dean and Provost offices. 
 Positions are renewable based on performance reviews and programmatic needs, contingent on deliverables described above including program establishment with sustained enrollment and full accreditation.

 Department Overview 
 The Department of Oral Biology serves as the  foundational biomedical sciences hub &#xa0;for RSDM, supporting predoctoral, graduate, and postgraduate education through rigorous training in oral biology, microbiology, immunology, biomaterials, and translational oral health research. The Department contributes substantially to the DMD,  Master&#8217;s and PhD training programs as well as  interdisciplinary research initiatives across Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

 The Department maintains a strong and growing portfolio of  basic, translational, and clinical research , supported by extramural funding and collaborative programs spanning dentistry, medicine, bioengineering, and public health.

 Position Responsibilities 
 The Chair of Oral Biology will be responsible for the  overall administration and strategic leadership &#xa0;of the Department, including: 
 
 Advancing the Department&#8217;s  research mission , with emphasis on extramurally funded, high-impact basic and translational science 
 Providing leadership in  predoctoral, graduate, and postgraduate education , including curriculum development and innovation 
 Obtaining and maintaining extramural research funding from federal, foundation and corporate sources 
 Strategic planning, goal setting, and  financial and resource management 
 Faculty recruitment, career development, mentoring, and evaluation 
 Oversight of graduate programs, research training, and interdisciplinary initiatives 
 Fostering  collaborative research &#xa0;within RSDM and across Rutgers University 
 Supporting the service missions of the School, University, and broader scientific community 
 
 The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Department&#8217;s national and international reputation and align departmental priorities with the School&#8217;s  Mission and Vision .

 RSDM seeks an individual with  outstanding academic credentials, track record of major funding, and leadership experience , including: 
 
 An  internationally recognized record of scholarship &#xa0;in oral biology, microbiology, immunology, dental biomaterials, or related fields

 Demonstrated excellence in  mentoring students, trainees, and faculty 
 Proven leadership experience in academic administration, program development, and research initiatives

 PhD, DDS/DMD, or equivalent terminal degree

 Preferred Qualifications 
 
 Dual degrees (e.g., DDS/PhD or equivalent)
