Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for classroom teacher functions. Provides instruction that is attentive to individual student's academic, social, and emotional needs.
Essential Job Functions:
This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.
Records and maintains school, classroom, and students' information such as attendance, student files, referral information, progress reports, lesson plans, curriculum development, etc.
Attends and participates in departmental/division meetings, planning projects, activities, and school related evening and weekend programs.
Manages and maintains robotics and coding materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a safeand organized learning environment. Reports and addresses safety concerns as needed.
Designs and implements engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum andphilosophy while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
Establishes and maintains a positive learning environment that reflects the school's philosophy.
Refers students, when necessary, following school procedures.
Communicates with parents and professional staff on a regular basis.
Develops and delivers instruction in coding, robotics, and computational thinking, incorporatinghands-on, project-based learning experiences.
Integrates technology into the teaching-learning process.
Maintains proper discipline and assist students in developing self-discipline and a sense of responsibility.
Establishes a structured classroom environment with clear expectations and a focus on studentgrowth.
Participates in arrival/dismissal, playground, and lunchroom supervisory responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of coding languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scratch, etc.) and roboticsplatforms (e.g., VEX, LEGO, Arduino, etc.).
Ability to develop engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote critical thinking andproblem-solving skills.
Effective classroom management and communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Experience integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.
NSU University School is a PK1-12, college-preparatory school serving approximately 1,800 students on the larger Nova Southeastern University campus in South Florida.
