The Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) seeks applicants for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Biomedical Engineering, with an expected start date no later than August 22, 2022. We seek highly motivated individuals, with robust interests in undergraduate engineering education, who are excited to develop and teach courses in our new intradisciplinary curriculum, which includes a vertically-integrated design aspect. Applicants with backgrounds from across the biomedical engineering field, and particularly those with industry and development experience with medical devices, are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students when appropriate. Candidates with significant related experience may be considered for a Senior Lecturer appointment and will oversee the design curriculum. This hire would also serve as Director of UVM’s nascent Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI; https://www.uvm.edu/cems/center-biomedical-innovation). The CBI seeks to be an internationally-recognized resource for the development of biomedical devices and supporting subsequent commercialization. The CBI will address the pressing challenges in rural medicine, as well as the training of future biotechnology inventors, innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders. In collaboration with UVM Innovation and Colleges across the campus, the Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the CBI including project recruiting, selection, and management.
