Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Tech I for the Office of Operations at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under direction, the Biomedical Equipment Tech I, is responsible for suggesting, developing and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Ensures that the biomedical equipment is on compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Designs reviews for serviceability/reliability, service plan generation, service documentation and procedure development, defining service parts, outlining service training and tracking equipment performance.
Diagnoses and repairs moderately complex medical equipment issues.
Acts as an escalation point for resolution of complex technical issues.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on medical equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
Conducts electrical safety inspections and performance verification testing on equipment.
Provides initial training to technical support personnel.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Technical training in biomedical equipment, electronics, or a related field, plus a minimum of three (3) years' of electrical, mechanical, or related technical experience.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education/technical school requirements.

Physical Demands: Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, requires sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. Position requires lifting over 100 lbs up to 1/3 of the time.
