Kurt J. Lesker Company (KJLC) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and development of advanced mechanical systems, including vacuum chambers and subassemblies. In this high-impact role, you’ll take ownership of projects from concept through production applying sound engineering judgment across fabrication, installation, operation, and optimization. You’ll have the autonomy to solve complex problems, influence technical direction, and lead initiatives where needed.
Partnering closely with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Assembly/Test, you’ll play a key role in shaping next-generation deposition equipment.
Take ownership of projects—planning timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Design and detail mechanical components for KJLC products in line with established standards
Develop and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) within the ERP system
Partner with Sales, Product Management, and R&D to translate requirements into practical designs
Collaborate with internal machine shop and external vendors to optimize manufacturability and cost
Build, assemble, and test prototypes and subassemblies
Drive cost reduction and improve production efficiency and delivery performance
Support manufacturing through design for cost, quality, and scalability
Travel domestically as needed
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Strong 3D CAD experience
Expert level GD&T skills
Minimum five (5) years experience in mechanical design
Preferred
Two (2) years experience with Solid Edge or other mid-range modeling package
Three (3) years PVD, CVD, or ALD vacuum system design experience
