Now Hiring: Electrical Engineer II - Relay Location: KAMO Power Headquarters – Vinita, Oklahoma
KAMO Power is seeking a detail-oriented ElectricalEngineer II – Relay. This is an exempt position that is responsible for applying engineering techniques for substation relaying and metering design, NERC compliance, miss-operations, reviews and event analysis, communication equipment configuration and system protection with moderate supervision by manager, including assignments, techniques and procedures.
Key Responsibilities: • With moderate supervision, generate accurate Substation Relaying and Metering design including drawings, specifications and material lists. • Perform relay settings calculations, coordination studies, and fault analysis • Prepare and review relay settings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation • Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment • Analyze system disturbances and outages; recommend corrective actions • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and field personnel on relay-related projects • Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and applicable industry standards • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians • Assist with system planning, upgrades, and protection & control capital projects
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related field • 3–5 years of experience in protective relaying or power system engineering • Working knowledge of: – Protective relays and relay coordination principles – Fault analysis and power system protection methods – SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, or similar relay platforms – One-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one preferred • Experience with transmission and distribution systems, SCADA, and NERC compliance preferred
