About the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering currently has 44 faculty members and an enrollment of about 1900 undergraduate and 260 graduate students. The Department offers ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S., Master of Engineering, and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Materials Science and Engineering. The Department has research focus areas in Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanics, Vibrations, & Acoustics, Robotics & Controls, Thermal-Fluids & Energy. Job Overview
The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the Materials Science and Engineering Program.
Candidates in the following broad areas in materials science and engineering will be considered: Ceramics, composites, corrosion, high-temperature oxidation, material modeling, nuclear materials, and advanced manufacturing processes.
Essential Functions
Teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses specific to their specialty areas (as noted above) and participate in course and curriculum development.
Develop externally funded research programs in their specialty areas (as noted above), publish research results in professional journals, and advise graduate and undergraduate students.
Participate in professional service activities such as editorial/peer review, serving on departmental, college and university committees, and performing outreach activities such as speaking at recruiting events, hosting lab tours, helping with summer camps, etc.
Minimum Requirements
Prior to the effective date of appointment, a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related field is required.
