Position description
The Porter Bioinspired lab (PorterBioinspired.com) is looking for a qualified, creative, highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to work on the characterization of fungal structures. The postdoctoral scholar will be responsible for:
- Collecting wildtype fungal structures or culturing and growing them in the lab.
- Perform characterization tests including imaging, mechanical, and chemical testing and subsequent analysis.
- Analyze data to create theoretical models to describe the material behavior.
- Share research results by writing academic papers and presenting them at technical conferences.
- Help with oversight of graduate and undergraduate assistants working on this and related projects.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
The applicant applying for the Postdoctoral Scholar must have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
