Join the FAPESP Thematic Project "Genomics and Biotechnology for Increased Productivity, Resilience to Future Climates, and Bioproducts from Sugarcane" !
We are looking for brilliant and passionate researchers to join our innovative project focused on sugarcane and energy cane. If you are eager to contribute to discoveries that impact society by integrating sustainability with biotechnology, this is your chance!
About the Project:
Our goal is to uncover the molecular mechanisms driving high biomass production and drought tolerance while exploring new metabolic pathways for bioproducts. Join us in a dynamic and collaborative environment where science and innovation go hand in hand!
About the Laboratory of Bioenergy and Sustainability:
The Laboratory of Bioenergy and Sustainability, led by Prof. Glaucia Souza at USP, is a pioneering center for research and innovation using genomics to develop advanced and sustainable approaches for biomass production, biofuels, and bioproducts. Equipped with modern infrastructure and a multidisciplinary team, the lab excels in genomics, functional genomics, biotechnology, and bioinformatics, also assessing climate impact and market potential for new technological routes.
About the Laboratory of Functional Genomics:
The Laboratory of Functional Genomics at Unicamp, led by Prof. Marcelo Menossi, is a reference in biotechnology and functional genomics. It focuses on studying molecular mechanisms that regulate gene expression in plants to improve stress tolerance and agricultural productivity. Using advanced techniques, the group develops innovative solutions and collaborates on impactful national and international projects in a highly synergistic environment.
Available Postdoc Positions:
Promoters (UNICAMP Campinas):
Work on selecting regulatory motifs of genes with specific expression and designing synthetic promoters for practical applications. Experience with gene expression analysis and gene construct production is desirable.
Biomass (USP São Paulo):
Contribute to selecting genes that maximize biomass production by developing transgenic plants. Candidates with experience in gene expression and physiological and morphological characterization of plants are preferred.
FAPESP scholarships linked to the Thematic Project
A stimulating and collaborative research environment
Opportunities to work with renowned specialists in the field, including international collaborators
Significant contributions to science and innovation in the sugar-energy sector
Networking opportunities with companies and international organizations
