The Department of Medicinal Chemistry in the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to broaden existing scholarship within the college and the U-M community. This position is part of the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT) initiative. The mission of M-PACT is to achieve greater inclusive excellence in the biomedical and health sciences at the University of Michigan and beyond.
The successful candidate will initially have will have 75% protected research time and 25% teaching and service. They will be expected to build an independent, externally funded research program. Candidates must demonstrate a strong potential for leadership in research and professional activities and a strong commitment to the educational objectives of the graduate, professional, and undergraduate degree programs at the College. We are seeking someone who brings diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas. Substantial effort will be dedicated to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the UM community, through the candidate’s research, teaching, and/or service activities.
Terminal degree in a relevant area (e.g. Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.PH.) conferred by July 1, 2024.
Strong research background in medicinal chemistry, especially interesting are those working in computational medicinal chemistry and protein biologics.
Demonstrated track-record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within their own research, teaching and mentoring, and/or service activities, as well as concrete plans to actively promote these areas throughout the future career.
Never had a tenure-track faculty appointment in an institution of higher education.
Meet the NIH definition of ESI at the start date (anticipated Aug 2025).
Is currently and will continue to be eligible for NIH funding throughout their time in the program.
