Public Health | Health Services Management and Policy
The Ohio State University College of Public Health is searching for a clinical faculty member (non-tenure track) to join its Division of Health Services Management and Policy (HSMP). Candidates for this full-time, non-remote faculty position will join our team of committed educators and researchers. We are seeking a candidate to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in health services management and policy, as well as contribute to executive education and workforce certificate programs. The candidate will be expected to teach healthcare management courses, which may include organizational management, strategy, operations, information technology, healthcare finance, and/or economics. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate education and/or significant practice experience in fields related to these teaching areas. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who demonstrate evidence of teaching or service activities to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as health equity.
The successful candidate will have a positive track record of university teaching or the potential to develop in this area based on prior teaching experience, work experience, or educational preparation. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a strong interest in teaching and mentoring students. Demonstrated teaching accomplishments in graduate and professional education are a plus. Inclusive and effective teaching and student advising are expected. Job responsibilities will include teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level, developing curriculum for degree programs and certificates, participating in division and college program initiatives, serving on college and division committees, and advising and mentoring students. Candidates will provide service and administration to the Division, College, University, and the community.
This appointment may be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Rank and salary will be determined by the candidate’s academic credentials and experience. Clinical faculty are not expected to be active in research. Job responsibilities will include teaching multiple courses each academic year, developing curriculum and instructional material for courses, participating in division and college program initiatives, serving on college and division committees, and advising and mentoring students.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or educational equivalent in public health, health care management, management, economics, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates must hold an earned graduate or professional degree, along with health services management and policy work experience commensurate with rank.
About the Division and College:
The Division of Health Services Management and Policy’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program is 7th nationally in the latest ranking of graduate programs published by U.S. News & World Report. The HSMP Division is responsible for curricula leading to MHA, MPH, and PhD degrees. The College of Public Health has an established undergraduate major and minor in public health. Our multidisciplinary faculty is known for their excellence in teaching and their significant research accomplishments. Faculty collaborate with researchers from various colleges, centers, and institutes, including the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry, James Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Institute for Population Research.
The College of Public Health is Ohio’s first accredited college of public health. First established in 1995 as part of the College of Medicine, the University Board of Trustees created the College of Public Health in 2007. In 2022, U.S. News & World Report ranked Ohio State’s College of Public Health graduate program 19th of all Schools of Public Health. It is one of seven health sciences colleges on the same campus, more than any other university in the U.S. The college includes five academic divisions, two centers of outreach and engagement, four graduate degree programs with several specializations, and an undergraduate degree with two specializations, and two undergraduate minors. Specializations within the college include biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, health behavior and health promotion, health services management and policy, veterinary public health, biomedical informatics, and clinical and translational science, and population health management and leadership.
