The Opportunity The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine (UCF-COM) is seeking a primary care internal medicine physician (M.D. or D.O.) as a full-time clinician educator. The successful candidate will have two overlapping roles, as a medical educator focusing on the in-clinic outpatient aspects of the undergraduate medical education (UME) curriculum and as a primary care clinician in the UCF Health outpatient academic practice. The position will be a clinical (non-tenure track) appointment at the assistant, associate or professor of medicine rank. The UCF-COM M.D. program is undergoing curriculum transformation to ensure the preparation of tomorrow's physicians and is looking for forward-thinking clinician educators with a passion for teaching who can contribute to clinical, foundational, and/or systems sciences instruction. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of clinical aspects of the curricula at the undergraduate medical education (UME) level. Experience in internal medicine clerkship education is preferred in that a major role of this position is teaching in clinics dedicated to, and designed for, third year medical students.
The applicant will have the unique opportunity to join the faculty practice at UCF-Health. The practice provides patient care while teaching our students in an academic environment. The applicant will have dedicated clinical educator clinic sessions wherein the candidate will be expected to provide patient care and teach clerkship medical students in an academic setting. The UCF academic practice model provides the unique opportunity to reduce patient load to enable effective and meaningful medical students' teaching in the workplace setting.
The patient care and related instructional duties will be at UCF Health, a multi-disciplinary clinic integral to health services provided by the UCF Academic Health Science Center and in partnership with such local partners as the VA Medical Center and Nemours Children's Hospital. The clinic is well-equipped and is the site of medical student, resident, fellow and other inter-professional education. Opportunities for clinical, translational and educational scholarship and research in collaboration with other faculty members are readily available. The chosen applicant will also be expected to provide service to the educational programs at the college and university.

The College of Medicine is located in a new medical education building with modern anatomy, histology and simulation laboratories. In addition to the medical school, the Lake Nona campus includes a state-of-the-art research center at the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, multiple clinical graduate medical education programs, UCF outpatient clinics, and the UCF Lake Nona Medical Center teaching hospital. Nearby are the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Guidewell Innovation research incubator, the Nemours Children's Hospital, and the new UCF Lake Nona Cancer Center.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have taught in a clerkship program as well as those with a prior course or clerkship leadership role and/or previous experience in ambulatory medical education, performance of work-based assessment, and/or clinical skills instruction and evaluation.
Experience in small-group case-based learning, one-on-one clinical teaching, and working in the clinical and simulation skills laboratory environment is desired. Ideal candidates would have expertise with innovative teaching and assessment methods.
There is a strong preference for having previous publications in the medical education literature.
