Legend Brands is growing and looking for a talented, career-driven individual to help us meet our exciting growth goals in the role of Injection Molding Process Engineer. Our state of the art facility is located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, approximately 2 hours north of Seattle.

This candidate is the technical leader for Injection Molding operations and defines and implements the optimum combination of equipment, tooling, materials, and processing to produce repeatable high-quality, and cost-effective results.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Standard Work for all injection molding processes and support activities and help train leaders in each functional area
Establish and maintain internal specifications and process documentation for injection molding processes and tooling ensuring processes and procedures are clearly stated and understandable for all employees
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Tool Room personnel, Mold Technicians, Production Leads, Machine Operators, Material Handlers, and Production Maintenance Technicians
Stay at the forefront of the latest industry trends and innovations by leveraging supplier relationships, industry trade shows, and other learning opportunities
Drive continuous improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through team participation in tiered meetings and plant management processes to improve resource utilization, performance, and quality
Work closely with Product Development and Manufacturing to incorporate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into all injection molded parts and assemblies
Justify and generate capital expenditure proposals and manage capital projects for new machinery, automation, and tooling
Resolve technical tooling and process problems associated with both new and existing tooling. Hands-on technical resource for shop floor support when necessary
Monitor and report issues with injection molds; make recommendations for refurbishment based on production factors such as cycles, process capability, and tooling history
Serve as a focal point for custom molding applications, providing customer quotations and technical support
Design and coordinate procurement or fabrication of End of Arm Tooling (EOAT)

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

B.S. degree in Plastics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
Must have a minimum of 5-10 years of practical work experience in an injection molding Operation with Large Tonnage (1500+)
Demonstrated ability to start-up, operate, and shut down process-related equipment
Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality
Ability to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshoot current production issues: self-starter able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation
Ability to manage multiple start-up projects
Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills
Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD 3D modeling software. MasterCam or equivalent CAM experience is a plus
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with injection mold tool design including shrinkage factors, heat transfer, hot runners, core pulls, venting, gates and runners, draft angles, etc.
Hands-on experience teach-pendant programming and setting up robots for injection molding. Insert molding and automation cell integration experience a plus
Machine tool experience preferred; CNC and manual mills, lathes, EDM, grinders, welding, etc.
Ability to lead others; responsibility may include indirect supervision of injection molding support personnel
Excellent computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to travel to other locations
