The City of Baytown is seeking an Engineer / Associate Engineer II - Traffic. Baytown is a growing community with a population of approximately 82,000. Situated on the north side of Galveston Bay approximately, Baytown is 25 miles from Downtown Houston. The Traffic Engineer provides traffic and general civil engineering support. Provides engineering services in designing, coordinating, analyzing and modifying the City traffic control and transportation systems, including long range and current transportation and thoroughfare planning, design of public facilities, evaluation of impacts of private development, and coordination with other transportation planning agencies including TxDOT, MPO, and TTI. The Engineer conducts the review of traffic engineering and transportation elements of proposed development plans including conformance with access management ordinances and possible impacts to existing infrastructure. The Engineer develops and implements transportation related ordinances, goals/priorities, objectives, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines related to traffic engineering and transportation planning including maintaining the city’s thoroughfare plan.
ENGINEER - TRAFFIC
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or intuition in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Three years of professional level experience in engineering.
- Professional Engineer License (Obtain Texas P.E. license within six months)
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).
- OR - An equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
ASSOCIATE ENGINEER - TRAFFIC
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or institution in Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training certification
- Two year experience in Civil Engineering design or project management
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).
- OR - An equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
PREFERRED:
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
- Municipal Engineering experience.
- Development engineering experience
- Microsoft Office and Project experience.
- CADD and GIS experience.
