The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Horticultural Crops Production and Genetic Improvement Research Unit seeks a Horticulturist (Computational)/Agricultural Engineer/Computer Scientist (GS-0437/0890/1550-12/13). The salary for this position is $79,363 - $122,683 per year plus benefits. The scientist in this position will design and implement sensor technology that leads to or enhances automation of vineyard tasks and activities and will develop predictive models and actionable information for various vineyard parameters to improve automation and precision management in viticulture. The position is located at Washington State University-Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, which offers the potential for engagement with diverse academic disciplines, resources, and programs that can advance the research. Agricultural and environmental scientists with strong computational backgrounds, as well as any scientist or engineer with expertise in modeling, simulation and computer science and with an interest in agriculture, are all encouraged to apply.
