The Power Generation Engineer position provides engineering assistance remotely and onsite to many types of power generation facilities located throughout Florida. The role will involve project management functions at power generation facilities for specific outage and improvement projects. This position will assist with assessment and remediation of equipment failures in an expedited and timely manner, efficiency and reliability design, and projects to enhance the reliability of the FMPA fleet. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Power Generation Engineer and Project Manager.  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Minimum working experience of five plus years in the Power Generation industry which includes direct experience with contractors, power plant or heavy industrial maintenance and operations experience.
• Extensive experience in steam generation, gas turbines, steam turbines and their auxiliaries coupled with exposure to operations and maintenance practices and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods involved in the design, construction and operation of natural gas fired electric power generation facilities, and turbo machinery.
• Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all FMPA Power Plant personnel, the public and associated business affiliates.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
• Florida Professional Engineering License is a plus.

Special Requirements:

• On occasion will be exposed to adverse weather and operating conditions. Occasionally may need to climb ladders and stairways. Must be comfortable being exposed to confined spaces and elevated areas.
• Significant travel and occasional overnight stay in Florida
