This position may be eligible for varying levels of telework. Amount of telework, if any, will be determined by job scope, candidate location, and other factors related to the position.
The Electrical and Power Systems positions will provide oversight, design, planning, and maintenance of medium and high voltage systems infrastructure such as distribution cables, control systems, protective relaying, transformers, switchgear, substations, alarms, and overall system coordination for Savannah River Site facilities and projects.
The types of work/skills needed may include:
• Experience with impedance and loop phase/gain measurements, precision noise measurement, and load transient response.
• Knowledge of power conversion principles for High Voltage output, topologies, and soft switching techniques.
• Experience of designing High Voltage Power Circuit Board layouts.
• Electrical system protection, coordination curves, load studies, and arc flash analysis.
• Hands-on electrical design validation and Verification experience.
• High voltage experience developing system repair designs, system calibration, and installation plans.
• Experience in Medium to High Voltage Industrial Power Systems with voltage of 480V through 13.8kV.
• Experience providing oversight, design, planning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of medium/high voltage systems infrastructure such as distribution cables, control systems, protective relaying, transformers, switchgear, substations, breakers, motor control centers, alarms, and overall system coordination.
• Experience performing modeling and simulation for power systems and short circuit analysis using simulation software platforms (e.g., ETAP).
• Others include lighting design, uninterruptible power systems, vessel heaters and heat trace, lockout/tagout, relay control systems, variable speed drives, diesel generators and automatic transfer switches, harmonics and their effects on electrical systems.
Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering preferred)
Advanced knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E. Advanced knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
