Job Summary :
Under moderate supervision, provide animal husbandry, breed transgenic mice, genotype mice by PCR, perform blood pressure measurements in mice, perform animal surgery and collect tissues and blood samples, analyze protein concentration, and perform HPLC measurements. Support cell culture and tissue culture operations; collect, assess, and communicate animal and HPLC data. Learn and perform measurements of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide using electron spin resonance (ESR) and HPLC chromatography. Interact with post-doctoral research fellows to assist with planning and conducting experiments. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory.
Minimum Qualifications :
B.S. with minimum of 2-years of biomedical lab work. Experience in cell culturing and HPLC analysis, animal work and preparations of blood and vessels samples from mice.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide animal husbandry, breed transgenic mice, genotype mice.
- Perform studies on mice related to vascular biology by analysis of blood and vessels.
- Assist with planning and measurements of reactive oxygen species using ESR spectroscopy and HPLC techniques in cells and tissue samples.
- Provide assistance with preparation and processing of biological samples for analysis of nitric oxide using ESR.
- Maintain cell cultures and tissue culture.
- Maintain inventory records and laboratory supplies and initiates purchase orders to replenish supplies.
- Assist with analysis and publication of scientific data obtained from the above-described experiments.
Department Summary:
The scientific mission of the Clinical Pharmacology Division is to understand the mechanisms of drug action in humans in order to improve therapeutics. The research of the Division members bridges the basic and clinical sciences. In addition to conducting state-of-the-art research, members of the Division also lead many institutional and national efforts to train clinical and translational investigators and to support infrastructure for translational research.
