The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works department is seeking a dynamic, outgoing, and visionary leader who is passionate about transportation to serve as the Assistant Director of Regional Transportation and Innovation. As the City of Fort Worth’s primary liaison for transportation matters, new technologies and services, the successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate major strategic transportation initiatives to enhance mobility and coordination. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of State and Federal funding programs and related financial processes, contracts, and grants including but not limited to FHWA, FTA and other infrastructure related funding sources. Knowledge of TXDOT, NCTCOG, transit, bicycle and pedestrian initiatives is desired along with the ability to advance mobility concepts associated with automated vehicle deployment and various emerging technologies. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage the planning efforts of transportation projects as well as developing strategic relationships/partnerships with various county, state, regional and federal transportation agencies and the private sector.
This position will lead and perform advanced transportation planning work with minimal supervision. The responsibilities include preparation of grant applications; negotiation of agreements with private and public entities; and manage special program efforts undertaken by the City and various partner organizations. This will be a hands on leadership role, managing staff and executing critical functions. The selected candidate will enhance ties at local, state and national levels as it relates to the vision of the City while working with key decision makers, elected officials and other stakeholders to advance City mobility goals.
