Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) has officially launched a search for its next Vice President - Finance & Chief Financial Officer (CFO). OPPD is a publicly owned electric utility that serves an estimated population of 849,000 people, more than any other electric utility in the state of Nebraska. Operating since 1946, the public utility is governed by any elected board of eight directors. While its headquarters is located in Omaha, Neb., OPPD has several other locations in its 13-county, 5,000-square-mile service area in southeast Nebraska. OPPD uses baseload power facilities fueled by coal and natural gas, peaking units fueled by natural gas and oil, and renewable energy, including wind, solar, landfill gas and hydropower.
This position is open because of the recent promotion of OPPD’s former CFO, Javier Fernandez, into the President & CEO position. The CFO contributes to the definition and attainment of corporate objectives as a member of the Senior Management Team and is accountable for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the financial affairs of the District, providing for the required financial resources, ensuring the financial soundness of the organization, and overseeing the corporate staff functions of resource planning, financial planning & analysis, treasury, financial operations, accounting, supply chain management, transportation fleet as well as energy marketing and trading.
Other Key Accountabilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or similar degree program.- Master's degree desired.- 10-12 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
