Health Science Officer for VA’s Office of Research & Development
This exciting Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Program Manager is within the Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Washington, DC. The Program Manager will be in the Clinical Science Research and Development Service (CSRD), one of four components that comprise ORD. CSRD supports and manages a national research portfolio of clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological research (including clinical trials) on disorders and diseases of importance to the health of Veterans.
The Clinical Science Research and Development Service (CSRD) is the one of four research services in ORD and consists of a Washington-based staff of approximately 16 employees. CSRD supports scientific expert peer-review of approximately 500 scientific proposals per year submitted by investigators located in local VA facilities proposing research studies of disorders and diseases of importance to the health of Veterans. CSRD provides approximately $72 million per year to support approximately 400 research projects. CSRD has an active portfolio of clinical trials, requiring a high level of oversight, as well as VA career development awardees and VA senior career scientists.
The Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Program Manager, CSRD, functions as the Health Science Program Administrator in CSRD and is responsible to the Chief Research and Development Officer (CRADO) through the Director, CSRD. As the Health Science Program Administrator, the incumbent’s areas of responsibility include program planning, program development and implementation, scientific merit review, program relevance and priority, and program evaluation, within strategically set objectives and plans.
