The Traffic Design Engineer 1 under the general direction of the Transportation Engineer II (Traffic Design Team Manager), directs project design activities within a project team. This position performs critical evaluations of engineering reports, studies and plans prepared by the project team and by consulting design engineers and others. Performs or assists in performing highly complex designs. Prepares and monitors project schedules and coordinates with other directly involved sections and consultants in project development. This position appears at Project Review Board for technical clarifications. Occasionally serves on selection panels. Seals and approves plans and reports and is professionally responsible for plans and reports.
Note: This position occasionally travels for project field reviews.
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
