The City of Chico, California, is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Plan Check Engineer.
Under limited direction, this position performs responsible and complex engineering work in the review, design and investigation of plans for residential, commercial and industrial building construction including equipment installation plans, calculations and test results; inspects buildings and structures at various stages of construction or alteration; and supervises and directs the work of professional and support engineering and building personnel.
Structural engineer experience is highly desired. Knowledge of non-structural codes, along with the ability to manage staff members and multiple projects, is critical to the success of this position.
Minimum Qualifications:Experience: Five years’ experience in the design or review of building construction plans or four years’ experience performing plan checking duties for a public agency. Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture or related field. Registration as a Civil Engineer or Architect by the State of California and International Code Council (ICC) Building Plan Examiner certification within one year of hire. Additional Requirement: Possession of a valid California Driver License. Desired Qualifications:Education: Registration as a Structural Engineer by the State of California is desirable Equivalency may be established pursuant to the City-Wide Classification Plan.
