Assist and support TriMet’s Engineering and Construction Division in all aspects of its Construction Safety Programs from design to construction and commissioning on various projects throughout the TriMet system, promoting a culture of safety for TriMet employees and contractors. Under general direction provides input and assists with developing, assessing, and verifying elements of the agencies Safety and Security Certification Program (SSCP). Other duties may include providing assistance where needed to other TriMet agency-wide systems and occupational health and safety programs, ensuring that TriMet maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Conducting system assurance audits and supporting the communications between frontline employees and management to assure agency commitment to safety remains as a core value, which guides all aspects of our work. Ensure a commitment to safety through consistent and professional behaviors in performance of job requirements that demonstrate safety is a fundamental value that guides all aspects of our work. Perform related duties as required. Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.
Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, Aviation, Transportation, Occupational Health or Industrial Hygiene, Science, Environmental Health Services, Risk Management, Construction Safety Management preferred. A minimum of two (2) years total credited experience is required.* Two (2) years of experience in safety within transit, manufacturing, change management, large industrial/manufactureing operations or similar industry is required. Two (2) years of experience in Safety, Light Rail or Heavy Rail transit, Engineering, Manufacturing, Aviation, Transportation, Environmental, Industrial or Occupational Health, or Risk Management Two (2) years of experience in Experience in transit bus and rail construction, civil construction or construction safety preferred. TSSP - Transit Safety and Security Program (Bus and Rail), preferred within 3 years of hire. ARM, OHST, CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP (Professional Safety Certification), preferred OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Industry Training, preferred OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry, preferred OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction, preferred HAZWOPER Certification, preferred Requires a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
* The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".
