BCIT’s School of Energy is currently seeking a regular, full-time Instructor in Mechanical Systems who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with a broad, practical knowledge of mechanical systems for buildings. The successful applicant can expect to be assigned courses across a range of areas related to mechanical systems and must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in developing and delivering quality in-class and online curriculum.

The areas of instruction may include:

• Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System Design
• Plumbing & Fire Protection
• Energy Management
• Building Construction
• Project Management
• Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of experience in a relevant engineering environment.
• Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
• Experience with the design of building services such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Experience with CAD and 3D modelling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards for BC is an asset.
• Instructional experience is an asset.
• Experience with eLearning is an asset.
