The Indian Wells Valley Water District (Ridgecrest, CA) is seeking an Assistant/Associate/Senior Engineer to perform a full range of engineering duties including planning, design, plan checking, inspection, regulatory compliance, and technical assistance to other staff.
The Assistant Engineer is an entry level position and will receiving training to perform all duties as assigned. The Associate/Senior level positions are expected to work independently and exercising judgement and initiative.
The ideal candidate will have experience effectively managing multiple projects; ensuring quality of work; is team-oriented; has engineering design experience, specifically in water or wastewater projects; has exemplary customer service standards and can establish effective working relationships; has experience managing and administering public construction projects and contracts; and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with AutoCAD and GIS is a plus.
Assistant Engineer: This is an entry level position requiring a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering (or other related field) and the ability to obtain an Engineer-in-Training certificate within 18 months of hire. Internship experience or other engineering experience is ideal, but not required.
Associate Engineer: Three years of professional engineering experience, preferably in a public agency setting. An Engineer-in-Training certificate is required. Possession of a California Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator 2 (D2) license or ability to obtain such within 12 months.
Senior Engineer: This is a professional position requiring five years of professional experience, preferably in a public agency setting. A valid license as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is required or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 12 months of hire. Possession of a California Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator 2 (D2) license or ability to obtain such within 12 months.
