As the leader of the Engineering and New Product Development Team, this hands-on technical and leadership position works closely with other functional leaders in the company, including those in product management, production, service, sales, and marketing. This role is responsible for ensuring that HunterLab’s product offerings and underlying technologies lead the color measurement industry in innovation and value.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for all the company’s multiple new product development, product refresh, platform development, and research activities. The Director of Engineering supports the VP of Technology and others in the definition of new products and related research activities for the company. This position has significant full life cycle experience in the hands-on and team leadership in the specification, design, prototype and pilot development and technology transfer to manufacturing of optical analytical instruments and software support systems.
The Director of Engineering serves as the primary project manager for the entire design, development, and testing program for new products, platforms, and research activities. Manages development of all elements of project baseline (scope, schedule and budget) while considering the operations, performance, testing, manufacturing, and cost of bringing a new product to market.
This position has advanced knowledge and developmental experience in new product development and product engineering with specific and relevant engineering experience in mechanical, electrical and electronics, optics, computer and embedded systems, and software. Manages, mentors, and coaches a multi-disciplinary team of up to ten other engineers and technical roles to maximize team efficiency and development output.
