The Center for Watershed Protection (the Center) is a national, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to protect and restore our streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands and bays. The Center is looking for a Watershed Planner with at least three years of experience in the watershed management field, with skills and experience including any or all of the following: - Watershed plan development
- Field assessments to identify conservation and restoration opportunities
- Urban and agricultural water quality best management practices
- Stream and habitat restoration practices
- TMDL restoration planning
- Chesapeake Bay TMDL requirements, including CAST
- Water quality monitoring
- Stream assessments
- Water quality modeling
- Municipal code and program evaluation
- Stakeholder management and public meetings/presentations
- Training on technical watershed and stormwater topics
- GIS mapping and analysis
- Data compilation and analysis
- Landowner outreach
- Environmental education and training
- Stormwater management requirements
- IDDE programs and methods
- Construction management and oversight
- Project proposals and budget development
- Marketing and networking with peers in the industry
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Biology) is required. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills, and be comfortable doing occasional field work, and working in teams. On occasion may be expected to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Experience in project and grant management is a plus. This position is primarily virtual but will require some travel to Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other parts of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
