Under general direction, delivers the major projects program by managing environmental, design, right-of-way acquisition, utility and railroad coordination teams on complex transportation projects; ensures successful delivery of projects by monitoring and enforcing compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and practices in a professional and respectful manner toward all stakeholders and the public; and performs related duties as required. Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives general direction from the Director of Project Delivery. Exercises direct and general supervision over professional, technical, and administrative support staff; provides support to construction management services consultants. Class CharacteristicsThis is a single-position classification responsible for management and delivery of SBCTA’s capital program by providing overall direction to consultant program/project management team to ensure that SBCTA’s interests are addressed in the production of consistent project contracts, agreements and implementation. Responsibilities include performing diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility. Incumbents organize and oversee day-to-day activities and are responsible for providing professional-level support to the Director of Project Delivery in a variety of areas. Successful performance of the work requires an extensive professional background as well as skill in coordinating program work. This class is distinguished from the Director of Project Delivery in that the latter has overall responsibility for all functions of the Project Delivery Department and for developing, implementing, and interpreting public policy.

Education and/or Experience:Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in capital project delivery of transportation projects, including four (4) years in management.
