Position Description PCOM SOP is currently seeking applications for a Director of the Center for Drug Development and Innovation (CDDI). The CDDI is a translational research center focused on the commercialization and transfer of technologies in support of the Mission and Vision of PCOM. The new Director will also hold a full-time 12-month tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the growth and advancement of the CDDI’s translational research programs. This position will provide leadership in facilitating clinically translational, cutting-edge research, and further development of the CDDI in collaboration with other faculty within the College’s Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy Practice, Biomedical Sciences and the PCOM Center for Chronic Disorders and Aging. The ideal candidate will be a scientific visionary with a record of independent extramural funding in a university or research institute, and/or possesses translational/clinical R&D experience within the pharmaceutical industry. The Director will also be expected to contribute to the Mission and Goals of the academic department and SOP, and will work in cooperation with the Chief Research and Science Officer of PCOM and within existing policies, procedures and practices of the SOP and PCOM. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Director, CDDI: - Leads the development of the research mission for the CDDI
- Oversee development of multidisciplinary, collaborative, and/or independent research programs at CDDI in collaboration with the Chief Research and Science Officer.
- Manage inter- and intra-institutional collaborations within the CDDI in collaboration with the Chief Research Operations Officer.
- Conducts a competitive independent and/or collaborative research program in the Director’s relevant area of expertise.
- Advances the development of intellectual property, technology transfer and research agreements with public and private partners according to the policies of PCOM.
- Seeks and obtains research support from extramural sources, independently and/or in collaboration with colleagues for further development of the CDDI
- Monitor progress on annual funded research budgets within the CDDI in collaboration with the Resource Manager of the Division of Research and the Finance Department.
- Monitor the quality of research productivity, including manuscript submissions to journals, and grant submissions for intra and extramural funding agencies and provide reports to the Chief Research and Science Officer.
- Identify strategies to enhance research outcomes for the CDDI
- Contributes to research opportunities for Doctor of Pharmacy, DO and MS in Biomedical Science students.
- Presents research at regional, national, and international conferences.
- Collaborates to enhance the standard and visibility of research by CDDI personnel
- Monitor the progress of graduate students in collaboration with the faculty and PIs in CDDI
- Participates in the teaching programs of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

- Develop and maintain a highly immersive student learning environment in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
- Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in collaborative, interdisciplinary research with other faculty in PCOM SOP
- Contribute to the service needs of the school, participating in school and college-wide committees, and in student advising.
- Contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate program at PCOM
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair
