The Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD) supports the University’s policies prohibiting discrimination against or harassment of any person on the basis of their membership in a protected category and is responsible for preparing UCSF’s written affirmative action plan for minorities and women, persons with disabilities, and covered veterans. In addition, OPHD responds to audits, complaints, and requests for information from various federal and state agencies and from the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS * Bachelor's degree in related area and 3+ of directly related experience, or equivalent experience / training â* Minimum of one year of experience in conducting complex investigations. Knowledge of best practices and methodologies for conducting investigations, including interviewing, gathering and analyzing evidence, and writing investigation reports â* Thorough knowledge of ethics and compliance profession and professional compliance and investigations standards â* Applies thorough ethics and compliance concepts and applications in the completion of assignments. Skills in problem-solving â* Ability to gather, organize, complete analysis and develop recommendations in the completion of assignments; critical thinker â* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups. Skills in coalescing viewpoints and facilitating outcomes in group settings. Builds rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way; listens attentively â* Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally â* Political acumen, the ability to establish and maintain productive, professional working relationships with campus administrators, academic and staff employees and students. Ability to assist or consult with administrators, staff and faculty in assessing procedural, policy or ethical concerns in complex matters * Demonstrated ability to present investigation findings in written reports that are clear and concise * Ability to apply appropriate policies and procedures in the completion of ethics and compliance assignments * Ability to multi-task while working in an environment with demanding timeframes and competing interests * Proven ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality * Knowledge and ability to interpret federal and state equal opportunity and discrimination laws and regulations, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable laws and regulations * Knowledge of laws and regulations related to sexual harassment in the educational or employment setting, or of substantially similar laws and regulations * Knowledge of the complexities of harassment in the educational or employment setting PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Juris Doctor degree * Training in trauma-focused approaches to investigations * Title IX compliance certification * Experience investigating sexual harassment or other equivalently sensitive allegations in an empathetic and confidential manner * Understanding of the relevance of trauma in the context of sexual violence (for example, the neurobiology of trauma and trauma-informed investigation techniques) * Experience interacting with constituents that are diverse in characteristics such as age, education level, race, gender identity and expression, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds, in a culturally- competent manner * Thorough knowledge of theories and systems of internal control * Broad knowledge of University ethics and compliance policies, procedures and programs LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: * Title IX compliance certification is preferred #Investigation #Investigator |
