The Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society at Vanderbilt University Medical Center invites applications for a clinical ethics faculty position in the School of Medicine for candidates with MD, PhD, JD or other terminal degree. The Department of primary academic appointment will be determined by clinical/professional discipline.
Advanced training in ethics is required with the person in this position serving on the Center’s active ethics consult service, teaching ethics in a health science setting, working with other institutions in the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network and completing other duties as assigned. A successful candidate should have significant experience in clinical ethics consultation and interest in developing innovative clinical ethics services.
The mission of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society is to provide leadership in education, research, and clinical service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center concerning the ethical, legal, and social dimensions of medicine, health care, and health policy. The Center is committed to multi-disciplinary exploration of the individual and social values, cultural dynamics, and legal and professional standards that characterize and influence clinical practice and biomedical research. The Center aims to be a catalyst for collaboration in teaching, research, and practice at Vanderbilt and to contribute to scholarship and policy making from the local to the international level.
