JOB SUMMARY: The Veterinary Resident reports to the Assistant Director of Education and Training of the Division of Animal Care for immediate oversight and coordination of duties. The Veterinary Resident will ensure that adequate veterinary care and other aspects of the program are in compliance with the regulatory standards in the DAC. In addition, the Veterinary Resident will participate in the DAC's efforts to improve services that support Vanderbilt's animal care program and researchers using animal models. This includes, but is not limited to, protocol review, consultation with investigators, and attendance at various meetings within the Division of Animal Care.
Vanderbilt's residency program offers motivated individuals a well-rounded experience that meets ACLAM board eligibility requirements. In addition to didactic training and supervised clinical practice, the Vanderbilt program includes a hypothesis-driven research project designed to lead to a first author publication and formal presentation at a national or international meeting.
