Stormwater and Infrastructure Systems Senior Planner The Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the liaison position for the recently formed Infrastructure Resilience Team (IRT). This position will focus in integrated drainage infrastructure planning, floodplain management, management and operations of drainage infrastructure, and/or urban (re)development with an emphasis in at least one of the fields of water resources, flood control and drainage, or transportation networks. Example areas of specialization could include but are not limited to flood risk management, sustainable water/resource management, system performance and quality control, and multifunctional infrastructure systems. Specific accountabilities include: - Conducting independent research/case study reviews on various topics.
- Assisting with strategic planning, vision development, and coordination of outreach and public engagement initiatives.
- Performing basic to complex analysis of specified data, projections and/or impact/feasibility evaluations.
- Developing standards, performance metrics, and/or other planning tools.
- Obtaining/validating data from various sources and evaluating plans/criteria.
- Identifying plans/projects, developing scopes of work and budgets, and managing projects as necessary to support the both the IRT and the District.
- Planning and facilitating meetings (some evenings and weekends required), and developing program documents; such as, plans, guidelines, community analysis reports, progress reports, plan performance assessments, informational briefs, webpage or social media content, conceptual visualizations, posters, presentations, and/or educational materials.
- Representing the District at the Harris County Community Flood Resilience Task Force (CFRTF) and public meetings.
- Coordinating the District’s departmental reporting to the IRT and CFRTF.
- Leveraging the District’s resources to assist in IRT initiatives, as requested.
