The City offers a 15-step pay plan. The hiring range for a Transportation Engineer is $7,702 - $8,502 per month, which represents steps 1 to 5 of our pay plan. Each year, with the approval of City Council, employees receive an additional step increase of 2.5%. About the Public Works Transportation Division: The mission of the Transportation Division is to plan and manage the improvement and expansion of public transportation infrastructure systems to maintain acceptable levels of service and accommodate future growth. What You'll Do: - Provide transportation engineering support to the Public Works Director, Engineering Manager, Community Development Director, and Police Departments
- Manage a budget of $3 million not including another $200,000 in capital annually
- Manage and supervise the operation, maintenance, and upgrades of 22,000 signs, 101 traffic signals, 29 school flashers, and over 1100 lane miles of striping
- Development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the transportation engineering program including development and training for 11 employees
- Participate in the implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan
- Perform investigations, evaluations, studies, and design of traffic systems
- Administer transportation projects from start to completion including design, review, public meetings, bidding, construction, and as-built and close-out phases
- Review plans, reports, and related documents of consulting engineers and private contractors for compliance with City standards and practices
- Capital planning and oversight of implementation
- Coordinate operations and capital projects for CDOT, Mesa County, and City of Grand Junction
- Respond to media requests for various traffic-related topics
- Employee development; training for 11 employees
