Under general direction of the City Engineer, supervises and plans the work of a small staff of professional and sub-professional engineering personnel engaged in development review, permit issuance, traffic engineering, surveying, inspection, design and drafting of public works projects; performs project management and professional engineering work; participates as a member of the department's management team in departmental policy development, administrative planning and addressing of departmental problems; and does related work as required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities will be qualifying. A typical way to acquire the knowledge and abilities would beExperience:Four years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience including at least two years administrative or supervisory experience.Two years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience desireable.Education:Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a related field.Special Requirements:Possession of an appropriate and valid driver's license as issued by the California State Department of Motor Vehicles.REQUIRED-Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
DESIRED-Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Traffic Engineer in the State of California is highly desirable.
