Responsible for directing the activities of a business unit within a department. This position in the Asset and Facility Management Department of Mecklenburg County is responsible for leading the Facility Maintenance and Operations Division, including facility maintenance of County and library buildings, energy management, and capital reserve project management. The position is responsible for strategic planning, operational processes, policies & procedures, and directs the daily operations of other professionals. The position is accountable for an average annual operational expenditure of approximately $25 million.
The position oversees outsourced facility maintenance vendor contracts for approximately 3.75 million square feet of facilities. The position also oversees the design and construction of equipment replacement/repair projects totaling approximately $12 million annually.
Experience & Education: Five years of progressively responsible management experience directly related to the area assigned and bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field OR Master’s degree in a related field and 3 years of program experience and 2 years of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid NC or SC driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a County Operator Permit.
The desired profile is for a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience. Candidates with Facility Maintenance Director type experience or past positions are desirable. Teamwork and communications skills are important qualifications.
