The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Library is excited to begin recruiting for a Clinical Informationist/Librarian. We are seeking candidates from the field of health education, health promotions, public health practitioners and librarians. We are looking for individuals with a passion for working in a world-class academic medical environment and a desire to work on a collegial team of experienced, nationally recognized health information professionals.
Recently we have increased opportunities for extended activities within the fields of outreach, education, research, and clinical areas of UAMS. As an informationist/librarian with position-specific responsibilities, you will also serve as Liaison to assigned departments, units and colleges.
We are seeking a confident, flexible, collaborative health sciences professional or medical librarian to work with the UAMS Clinical Services Librarian (CSL) in a semi-embedded capacity. The Clinical Informationist will be based in the Library and work in diverse clinical settings at the University Hospital and outpatient services. This outgoing Informationist/Librarian will work with health professionals, residents and students and will represent the UAMS Library with enthusiasm and professionalism. This non-tenured faculty position reports to the Head of Education and Research Services and works in a team-oriented environment.
The successful candidate will be provided training needed in clinical library services, expert literature searching, reference interviews, research collaborations, and instructional methods for teaching biomedical information resources. This faculty member will be mentored in professional development including learning about professional organizations, continuing education opportunities, publishing, research, and promotion requirements. New graduates or those obtaining the required master’s degree by December 2020 are welcome to apply.

Our department offers services in support of instructional, clinical, and research activities, such as literature searching, teaching about information resources and their use, rounding with clinicians, and collaborating with research teams on systematic reviews. We also work to promote awareness of information resource services to UAMS faculty and staff, whether they are at the Little Rock campus or spread across the state at the UAMS Regional Centers or the Northwest Campus.
ERS faculty are engaged in a variety of professional activities, which include service to professional associations, contributions to the profession’s knowledge base through research, conference presentations, creation/teaching of continuing education courses or original publications. The pursuit of expertise and improvement of professional skills are encouraged for all ERS faculty.
