Township Engineer/Public Works Director
Lower Allen Township is seeking a full-time Township Engineer/Public Works Director. The current Township Engineer is retiring after 22 years of service. This position is responsible for supervision and administration of the Public Works Department, which includes streets, parks, yard waste recycling; winter maintenance; storm sewer system and related infrastructure. The Engineer oversees all municipal engineering functions and improvements associated with Township facilities.
The Township Engineer performs review and approval of all subdivision and land development submissions, including: plans; stormwater management reports; and traffic studies, and serves as the staff liaison to the Township Planning Commission.
The Engineer is responsible for operation and maintenance of traffic signal systems, and for conducting traffic studies on Township roads. The Engineer also serves as the designated municipal Floodplain Administrator.
The Engineer represents the Township to various outside entities: state agencies such as PaDEP and PennDOT; federal agencies, such as FEMA; planning agencies, such as Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, Cumberland County Planning Department, and Harrisburg Area Transportation study.; and other municipalities.
