Alden Research Laboratory, Inc. (Alden) is seeking a self-motivated Hydraulic/ Water Resource Engineer to join our, multidisciplinary team in Portland OR.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on truly one-of-a-kind projects in hydraulic, fisheries and power engineering. Work involves close coordination with multifaceted projects including hydraulic and fisheries evaluations and engineering design. This position will provide the opportunity to be involved from project conception, feasibility and hydraulic studies, to final design.
The successful candidate must be able to quickly learn and apply new engineering concepts. Only candidates that clearly demonstrate a passion for hydraulics, fisheries, and/or power engineering will be considered. Hydraulic modeling and design experience is a plus. A strong fundamental background in civil, and hydraulic engineering is required. In addition to strong technical skills, the candidate must have good oral and written communications skills.
This engineering position requires an understanding of hydraulic concepts such as open channel flow and pressurized pipe flow. Engineering focus will be on hydroelectric project design, thermal power generation intake structures and fish passage. The candidate will be responsible for developing proposals, interacting with clients, executing projects, and writing technical reports. The candidate must be a team player but be comfortable working independently.
