The Senior Planner provides leadership and support in the definition and implementation of data collection efforts related to statewide and regional long range, strategic, and freight plans, regional economics and economic development plans, transportation policy, land use analysis, financial analysis, and related areas. They prepare proposals and reports, and conduct research on transportation projects. The Senior Planner collaborates with regional and National Practice leaders and project managers across business lines to develop integrated technical approaches that reflect company-wide expertise in travel demand modeling, data analytics, transportation operations, and software development. They serve as a company-wide resource in areas of expertise, train, manage and mentor junior staff, and motivate staff and sub consultants to deliver work products on time and within budget. The Senior Planner develops collaborate relationships with current and prospective clients, proactively identifies future leads and leads teaming negotiations with other consulting firms as part of proactive and reactive marketing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Delivery•Produces and delivers exceptional quality work that is thorough, polished, and reflects well on CS •Provides exceptional value-added service to project managers and/or clients and communicates consistently with internal and external team members •Actively listens and seeks to understand client or project manager needs •Meets chargeability expectations
Project Management•Delivers all projects on-time, on-budget, and to the client or project manager’s satisfaction •Provides constructive and ongoing feedback to project team members •Provides clear direction to all project staff regarding project objectives and their role in achieving them •Develops and implements project delivery plan for each project •Updates project staffing in CS staffing program on time each month •Reviews and submits invoices and progress reports on time
Business Development•Participates in regional, business line, and other business development initiative meetings to identify and coordinate BD and marketing activities •Contributes to sound bid/no-bid decisions •Develops effective win themes, teaming strategies, pricing strategies, and technical content for all proposals in area of responsibility •Builds and maintains long-term client relationships and actively listens to their needs •Maintains post-delivery communication with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and to prospect for repeat/expanded business •Builds strong positive relationships with management, National Practice Leaders (NPLs) and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposals
Business Development Coordination•Organizes, conducts, and summarizes monthly cross-BL BD meetings to discuss priority leads and key marketing activities in respective region • Coordinates with National Practice Leaders (NPLs) on BD support activities, including conducting red team reviews of priority proposals • Ensures that internal systems accurately reflect regional leads and pipeline • Builds strong positive relationships with management, NPLs and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposalsPosition Requirements
