Professional Engineer serving as a high-level expert for the Everglades and Estuaries Protection Bureau under the Ecosystem Restoration & Capital Projects Division. The incumbent is responsible for providing project management and engineering insight for water resources management and water quality restoration in support of the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program (NEEPP) and the Everglades Forever Act (EFA). Incumbent must have a diverse knowledge of South Florida water resources and water quality issues, as well as working knowledge of engineering standards and practices for the design, construction and operation of stormwater treatment and storage facilities. The incumbent must demonstrate extensive technical expertise and working experience in one or more of the primary roles of this position, as detailed/updated below:
In any of these roles, incumbent serves as liaison with other organizational units and must possess superior communication and customer service skills; actively manage time, independently schedule and track on-going assignments, effectively reprioritize in response to unplanned situations; conduct systematic and in-depth review and analysis of historic records; effectively author and edit technical reports; champion positive internal and external stakeholder relationships recognizing overlapping and competing goals and proposing creative win-win solutions.
Employment Guidelines: Typically has Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET/EAC accredited program and 8+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within engineering discipline that can be applied to support the District's strategic goals and objectives. Preferred disciplines for engineering education and experience include Agricultural, Civil, and Environmental engineering.
Experience in planning, construction, and operation and maintenance of water resources engineering projects and/or water management projects, development of operational plans, and hydrologic/hydraulic calculations is preferred. Preference to those individuals with experience in working with Northern and Southern Everglades entities.
Licenses: Incumbent has State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license and keep licensure status current, or if PE from another state, must become licensed by endorsement in Florida within six months from date of hire.
Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.
