The J. Paul Getty Trust (www.getty.edu) seeks a seasoned and collaborative engineering professional to serve as Head of Engineering. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, Michael Rogers, the Head of Engineering will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight as steward while providing guidance and expertise on facility matters for the J. Paul Trust and Getty Programs (Getty Museum, Getty Research Institute, Getty Conservation and Getty Foundation).

Getty continues to build its collections through purchase and gifts, and develops programs of exhibitions, publications, scholarly research, public education, and the performing arts that engage our diverse local and international audiences. The Head of Engineering is a senior facilities manager leading engineering operations, and related planning and projects for J. Paul Getty Trust, which includes the both the hill top 750-acre Getty Center and the 70-acre Getty Villa near the Pacific Ocean.

In addition, this position requires progressive experience in a large, complex organization, preferably in a world-class cultural organization, university, pharmaceutical, and/or medical center; a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or similar field (a Master’s degree is desirable); a Professional Engineer license; demonstrated organizational experience in facilities engineering management (at least ten years preferred); a minimum of ten years’ supervisory experience including hiring, performance management, supervision and staff development; technical proficiency in facilities engineering operations that includes a high-level of experience with managing complex central plant systems, fire protection systems, building controls which strictly regulate building environmental conditions (high-rise experience preferred); demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects such as central plant retrofits, building automation system upgrades and infrastructure replacement; an ability to preserve world-class architecture and maintain architectural and aesthetic standards; outstanding ability to communicate across the full spectrum of an organization; exceptional time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines; excellent leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; demonstrated sound judgment, with integrity, and observing ethical standards; execution of professional responsibilities with due care, competence and diligence in accordance with the professional standards.
