Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSOM), established in 2014, in the dynamic capital of Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), Kazakhstan, is seeking research active faculty (clinically qualified and basic scientists) who will develop an internationally competitive research program to complement the research priorities of the school in cancer biology, infection and immunity, neuroscience, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, epidemiology, health services research, and artificial intelligence in health care.
The successful candidate will have an MD and/or PhD, or equivalent graduate/professional degree. If clinically qualified, the candidate should have specialist training (e.g., board certification or equivalent) in internal medicine, infectious disease, gastroenterology, medical oncology, obstetrics/gynecology, radiology, or clinical genetics; demonstrated exceptional research experience; and teaching experience commensurate with appointment rank. If not clinically trained, a contribution to the teaching of the MD program and below listed other programs and an outstanding research program in disciplines relevant to NUSOM’s research priorities and programs will be expected. An h-index of 5 (or above) is normally required for an appointment as assistant professor. An h-index of 15 (or above) is required for associate professor, and an h-index of 25 (or above) is required to be appointed as full professor in NUSOM. Excellent communication skills and English fluency are required.
