The City of Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking an innovative Program Manager to lead our emerging Speed Management Program. This is an exciting opportunity to implement national best-practice Vision Zero principles to move toward zero deaths and serious injuries on the City’s transportation network. The ideal candidate is proficient in transportation engineering safety, has an in-depth understanding of local and national speed management best practices, can work in a bustling work environment, and can effectively communicate with the public and elected officials. This position requires simultaneously managing multiple projects, and the ability to shift from one project to another without sacrificing quality. It will benefit this person to have this knowledge, but at a minimum the candidate should have a strong desire to learn and absorb this information.

This position requires graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Planning, or a field related to the job, plus five (5) years of experience conducting activities related to capital budgeting or planning initiatives two (2) of which were in a lead or /supervisory capacity.
A Master's degree in a field related to Business Administration, Public Administration or related field plus three (3) years of experience Two (2) of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity may substitute for the required education and experience.
