Fairfax County, a diverse, dynamic and growing jurisdiction in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified transportation planner, engineer or, travel demand modeler, to work across multiple disciplines in the transportation field. The position is located in the Transportation Analysis Group and would support the group's efforts that focus on transportation modeling, corridor studies, and analyses to identify long range and medium range transportation solutions.Fairfax County faces significant transportation challenges and is seeking innovative solutions, transitioning away from single occupant vehicles as the primary means of transportation. This position is expected to successfully strategize solutions in a team-based environment, balance multiple priorities and tasks to meet established deadlines, and perform duties under limited supervision. Work assignments may include a wide range of transportation planning issues and at times managing or reviewing county transportation studies. In addition, it is expected that the person has experience in/or is able to conduct small area studies to assess the transportation impact of new land uses or changes in the transportation network. Other duties could include the preparation of professional reports, participating in public outreach efforts; and giving presentations to the public and/or elected officials. Knowledge and background in transportation, land use planning, and multimodal planning.
